Diane Comer
Diane Comer was born in Italy and grew up in the Dominican Republic, Belgium and New Mexico. Her gourmet mother always said if you can read, you can cook. After moving between the US, Sweden and New Zealand, she finally set down roots in Wellington with her partner and two children. All this shifting around the world enriched her appreciation for food as cultural exchange.
In The Braided River she explores migration through the lens of the personal essay, where the taste of home is missed and transformed. Diane teaches memoir, personal essay and critical writing for Victoria University.
