Verb Readers & Writers Festival 2021
Frequently Asked Questions
Dates
There are some events taking place in October as part of an early series in the lead up to the main festival which is Wednesday 3 - Sunday 7 November. Due to COVID 19 there have been a number of time and venue changes to some events. Only the dates 6 & 7 November are affected and you can view the updated weekend timetable here. All ticket buyers have been notified.
LitCrawl is on Saturday 6 November. This year, due to COVID, you must register to attend a LitCrawl or Newtown Sunday Stroll event. You can find a link to register on each LitCrawl event page, and the Newtown Sunday Stroll page.
Locations & Venues
Our primary venues are:
National Library of New Zealand, 70 Molesworth St
Meow, 9 Edward Street
Innermost Gardens (for this event on 22 October)
For LitCrawl venues please see the LitCrawl programme.
Festival Programme
You can view the entire programme here and LitCrawl here. You can also flick through the e-Book here.
Ticket Passes
Passes are a great way to save money on multi-events. You can purchase them (4-pass, 6-pass, or 8-pass) here. It is a very simple and easy process we promise.
COVID-19
Festival events will go ahead in Alert Level 1. If Wellington is still at Level 2 in mid-October then a reframed programme will be announced, and refunds offered for any changed events.
Please use the QR codes that will be at every entrance and other locations at the site. Please use the hand sanitisers on site too. Do not come if you are unwell please. If you start to feel unwell at the festival please alert festival staff before you depart the event.
Where to get your Books!
Our amazing partners, Vic Books, are Verb Readers & Writers Festival’s official booksellers. You can purchase books in advance online at the bookshop here (a handy online collection of all of the books in this year’s festival) and you can also purchase at events where Vic Books will be stationed (all weekend at the National Library of New Zealand, and at Meow and other selected events. Many LitCrawl events won’t have books available for purchase, however, so we do encourage you to buy those in advance or at the LitCrawl After Party at Meow!)
What makes Verb Readers & Writers Festival possible?
We can only do this because of collaborators and supporters: Creative New Zealand, Wellington City Council, New Zealand Community Trust, National Library of New Zealand, Vic Books, The Dominion Post, HUIA Publishers, Bowen Galleries, ReadNZ; and our own Verb Community.
All of your ticket purchases and donations help us get a step closer to break even!
