Kia Tūpato—The past is still present

  • Hannah Playhouse 12 Cambridge Terrace Wellington, Wellington, 6011 New Zealand (map)

When it comes to events such as the New Zealand Wars, the changing nature of how we remember—and who we remember with—casts ever-shifting areas of light and shadow across our contested and collective memories. Join Rowan Light (Why Memory Matters), Richard Shaw (The Unsettled), Matiu Baker and Rebecca Rice (Te Ata o Tū The Shadow of Tūmatauenga), and Arini Loader, a panel of speakers invested in the shaping and reshaping of our histories, as they explore how acts of remembering hold us in relation with each other.

A discounted ‘Ticket + book’ bundle is available for a copy of The Unsettled, Small Stories of Decolonisation by Richard Shaw. If purchased, your book can be collected from Unity Books, 57 Willis Street, Wellington in advance of the festival, or at the event from Unity's book table.
