Session one: Imagination Stations! (Free)
10am–11am (suitable for Years 5–8)
Four brilliant children’s writers spark creative collisions with quick-fire talks all about what makes them writers, what inspired their latest books, and why they love to live in the imaginary realm … featuring Rachael King, Patrick Ness, Lauren Keenan and Jane Arthur. Hosted by Claire Mabey. Each writer will speak for 8 minutes. There will be time for 15 minutes of student questions followed by time to get bookmarks and books signed. Stretch break in the middle!
Session two: Chronicles of a Lizard Nobody with Patrick Ness (Free)
12pm–12.45pm (suitable for Years 5–8)
We have a really amazingly famous international writer of acclaimed novels right here in Wellington. Patrick Ness (US/UK) has won the Carnegie medal twice and his latest book is his first for middle readers, Chronicles of a Lizard Nobody, is a beautiful, buoyant schoolyard drama starring Zeke (the lizard), his school friends and foes, and his mum. Come along for a dazzling, inspiring time with one of the world’s greatest writers for children. There will be time for audience questions and time after the event to get books and bookmarks signed.
