Kirsten Johnstone

Kirsten Johnstone is an audio producer and editor, who co-runs podcast production company Popsock Media alongside Melody Thomas. Kirsten learned to craft stories and sound during 15 years at RNZ, mostly as a music journalist, and was part of the founding teams for Music 101 and Song Crush.  

She is obsessed with sound and music, loves constructing complex audio puzzles, and taking deep dives into stories.

She writes and takes photographs for publications including NZ Herald, The Spinoff, and Audioculture. Kirsten has an honours degree in performance flute, but prefers to play the banjo these days.
