Pyramid Club founder and experimental musician Daniel Beban (Orchestra of Spheres) spins a few records and discusses his new book, Future Jaw-Clap: The Primitive Art Group and Braille Collective Story, with Nick Bollinger.
Daniel’s introduction to Wellington’s improvised music scene began at Slow Boat records in 1993, when he found a Braille Records LP of the Black Sheep while on a school trip from Levin, sparking a journey that would eventually lead him to become a key figure in the city’s experimental music community.
In 2019 Daniel was awarded the Lilburn Research Fellowship to research and write about improvised music in Wellington during the 1980s. Future Jaw-Clap is his first book.
