Luka Venter
Luka Venter is a classical musician and poet from Te Whanganui-a-Tara, currently based in London. He is an alumnus of the IIML, where he studied under Therese Lloyd. Recently his poetry was published in the 2021 anthology This Twilight Menagerie, and read on RNZ.
An experienced composer-conductor, he was Orchestra Wellington’s Assistant Conductor across 2019-21 and trained in the NZSO Fellowship Programme under Hamish McKeich, during which he conducted the NZSO National Youth Orchestra in Tāmaki Makaurau and Pōneke. He is an alumnus of the European Conducting Masterclass, during which he worked with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, and is a current student of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s MA in Opera Making.
