Rebecca Hawkes
Rebecca Hawkes is a queer Pākehā poet and painter. Her work is largely consumed by hardcore pastorals and beastly romance. Her debut chapbook Softcore Coldsores was published by Auckland University Press in AUP New Poets 5. Her first full-length collection, Meat Lovers, will be released by AUP in early 2022.
Rebecca is a co-editor for Sweet Mammalian and an anthology of poetry on climate change from Aotearoa (also forthcoming from AUP in 2022), founding member of Freya Daly Sadgrove's Show Ponies, and head shepherd of the Pegasus Books poetry reading series. Her work has appeared across journals like Starling, Scum, Stasis, and Best New Zealand Poems. You can also find Rebecca's poems and paintings collected at her vanity shrine.
