The townsfolk call it Beast, but brave Cass isn’t afraid. Calling all fearless explorers for a journey with Cass and the Beast, the picture book by Claire Mabey and Jill Calder. Then prepare your thunderous roars, almighty sniffs and galumphing stomps as we create some beasts together.

Taniwha Tales
10.45-11.15am

Dive into the tale of two taniwha who shaped Wellington Harbour. Illustrator and author Isobel Joy Te Aho-White shares the pūrākau of Ngake and Whātaitai from her pukapuka Whenua. Afterwards, draw your own taniwha and head to the craft tables to decorate it with colourful extras and bring it to life.

The Great Garden Trail

Flit, scurry or fly to the Discovery Garden for an adventure with Giselle Clarkson. Gathering engrossing facts from her marvellous books Omnibird and The Observologist’s Handbook, Giselle will lead keen bug and bird lovers on an outdoor exploration to discover the fascinating creatures all around us.
